PE"Roads of Serbia" informs the public that, regarding a video showing the burial of old car tires with soil on the highway under construction, section Pakovraće - Požega, it has issued an urgent order to the contractor, the Chinese Company CCCC, to carry out an inspection and report on the matter.

"Dear all,
In accordance with your order, the company CCCC, the contractor, issues the following statement:
Regarding the video recording showing the burial of old car tires with soil on the new highway route from Pakovraća to Požega, we inform the public that this activity is the result of irresponsibility and personal decisions of individuals, and not the practice of the company CCCC.
The company CCCC does not support or allow the burial of waste tires as a method of waste disposal. The company treats such a practice as a violation of business policy, as it is contrary to internal procedures, applicable laws of the Republic of Serbia and regulations related to environmental protection.
Thank you to the person who made the video, because our company did not have knowledge of this absolutely prohibited act before the video material appeared. Immediately upon learning of this, we took certain measures: we launched and conducted an internal investigation, we notified the competent authorities, and at the same time we activated an emergency remediation plan in cooperation with licensed waste management operators.
The internal investigation revealed that this was an individual act of an employee of our company at the construction site, against whom disciplinary measures will be taken.
Our goal is to correct his unacceptable omission, but also to build long-term control and transparency mechanisms in cooperation with local governments and civil society organizations in Serbia.
Finally, we sincerely apologize to the citizens of the Republic of Serbia, as well as to all those who are rightly upset by this act. We are aware that trust is built through actions, and that is why we are determined to prove through action that we will not tolerate such situations, because they have no place in our work and business culture."
