New bridge over river Ljuboviđa opened to traffic today

Newly constructed bridge over river Ljuboviđa on I B Category state road No. 28, Gračanica-Ljubovija, is opened to traffic today, on 26 October 2020.

The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the PE „Roads of Serbia“, Prof. Zorana Mihajlović, PhD, who visited together with the Acting Director of the PE „Roads of Serbia“ the bridge destroyed by June flood several months ago, has said that the works are completed before the deadline.

„In July, we promised to the inhabitants of Ljubovija that a new bridge will be constructed by this year's end, but eventually everything has been finished in just four months, from design documents to execution of works, and starting with this day the bridge is opened for traffic. This bridge is very significant to people living in this region, which implicates the importance of utmost utilization of construction season and completion of works before winter“, said Mihajlović.

The works valuing RSD 60 million were performed by „West-gradnja“ from Šabac as a subcontractor and  „Preduzeće za puteve Valjevo“. The design documents were prepared by „Filos Inženjering" d.o.o., Belgrade, and technical inspection was performed by „Pro- inženjering" d.o.o. Belgrade.

The old bridge over river Ljuboviđa at Ljubovija was severely damaged during June floods and river overflow after which it was demolished. During the execution of urgent works on bridge construction, entire road traffic was diverted to the alternative road route – provisional road deviation with temporary river crossing in the vicinity of demolished bridge.
