The construction of the Northern Bypass around Kragujevac is currently the most important strategic infrastructure project in the region of Šumadija. Works on the construction of the 22-kilometer high-speed road continues are progressing at the planned pace.
Designed for a speed of up to 100 kilometers per hour, this road will have five modern traffic interchanges and 25 road objects, i.e. bridges, overpasses and underpasses and will connect Kragujevac with other important parts of the Serbian road network such as Corridor 10 and the Moravian Corridor.
In addition to displacing transit traffic from the center of Kragujevac, contributing to the elimination of pollution and noise from urban and suburban areas of the city and reducing traffic jams, it is of great importance for the economy of the city of Kragujevac and the development of the entire Šumadija.
The works within Phase 1 are progressing according to the agreed dynamics, and within them, the bridge on the Jovanovac interchange, which is above the state road Batočina - Kragujevac, has been asphalted.
Intensive works are also being carried out within Phase 2, which include excavation works, construction of embankments and buffer layers, reinforced concrete works on 6 bridges, 3 retaining walls and 2 foundations for buildings made of steel corrugated pipes and relocation of electrical power installations.
As part of Phase 1, it is also necessary to complete the final works on the bridge at the Jovanovac loop, arrange the road strip, install horizontal and vertical traffic signals, install the ITS technical protection system, install a protective, wire and rebound fence, install noise protection walls and other works in the 400 kV electric transmission line zone and in the gas pipeline zone.
After the works on the adaptation of transmission lines and relocation of gas pipelines, Phase 1 will be completely completed.
