In the premises of PE "Roads of Serbia", in Belgrade, on December 4, 2025, a working meeting of representatives of PE “Roads of Serbia” and PE “Republic of Srpska Highways” was held on the topic of the construction of the first section of the future motorway Belgrade - Banja Luka, which will connect Rača and Bijeljina.
The meeting was attended in front of PE "Roads of Serbia", acting director Zoran Drobnjak, assistant director Miodrag Poledica, Executive Director of the Sector for Investments Aleksandar Kostadinović, Assistant Executive Director of the Strategy, Design and Development Sector Jovana Đurović, as well as the Head of the Sremska Rača Project - Kuzmin Đurđa Stanovčić.
The delegation of PЕ “Republic of Srpska Highways" was led by acting director Radovan Višković. The meeting was also attended by acting Executive director for Technical Affairs Slobodan Stanarević and construction engineer in the Construction Department Jakša Adžić.
Miodrag Poledica, assistant director of PE “Roads of Serbia” addressed the attendees and thanked delegation for the visit and emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation as a key prerequisite for the successful implementation of the project.
Acting Director of PE "Republic of Srpska Highways” Radovan Višković emphasized that the cooperation of the two parties is recognized as a basic factor of progress and joint achievement of the planned goals.
Key activities were discussed at the meeting and next steps were agreed upon in order to carry out the works on the construction of the Belgrade - Banja Luka highway, the Rača - Bijeljina section as efficiently as possible.
Rača - Bijeljina is the first section of the strategic, national project of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, the future highway Belgrade - Banja Luka, in fact the northern branch of the future highway Belgrade - Sarajevo - Belgrade.
The section Rača - Bijeljina continues to the bridge over the Sava river, to the section Kuzmin - Sremska Rača. The length of the main route is 20 kilometers in the full profile of the highway (stop, driving and overtaking lanes). The length of the connection road from the main road to the highway with all on-off lanes is about two kilometers. There are nine facilities on the main route, the interchange “Bijeljina North” with a toll station, the front toll station at the beginning of the section, a base for maintenance and traffic control, and a rest area.
The “Brodac” interchange is located about 7 km from the newly built bridge on Rača, and in the forthcoming period activities will be intensified on this part of the route, so that the road can be built by the middle of year 2026, when Serbia also plans to open the section of the Kuzmin - Rača motorway.
The main conclusion of the meeting is that joint dedication is the most important factor in improving traffic connectivity and regional development of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
