On the occasion of the Day of Serbian Builders, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Aleksandra Sofronijević on August 8th 2025 in the presence of acting director Zoran Drobnjak, assistant director and executive director of the investment sector of PE "Roads of Serbia" Miodrag Poledica and Aleksandar Kostadinović and the mayor of Kragujevac Nikola Dašić, she toured the works on the construction of the Northern Bypass around Kragujevac.
"Construction is the backbone of our economy and one of the main drivers of economic growth. More than 125,000 employees in the construction sector contribute to the modernization of Serbia every day. This high-speed road is of particular importance because the industrial zone is located in the first five and a half kilometers of the route, which creates the conditions for the arrival of new investors in Kragujevac. And that means more jobs and a better life for all the citizens of this region. Also, the construction of the Northern Ring Road around Kragujevac will divert freight and heavy traffic away from the central citiy zone and will lead to the relief of internal city traffic and the creation of better conditions for more efficient transit traffic," emphasized Minister Sofronijević.
The 22-kilometer expressway is of great importance for the city of Kragujevac, as it will solve most of the infrastructure problems, reduce traffic jams and lead to the development of the economy.
he minister congratulated all workers in the construction sector, stressing that their expertise, work and dedication are the foundations of a modern and strong Serbia, as well as that the state is doing everything to ensure that they have better incomes and working conditions.
