ROADS OF SERBIA PARTICIPANTS OF THE REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON IMPROVING TRAFFIC SAFETY

In cooperation with the Traffic Safety Agency of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in the Palace of Serbia on April 9 and 10, 2024, a two-day Regional workshop on improving traffic safety was held under the title: "Practice of implementation of audit and verification of traffic safety on roads".

At the event, domestic and regional experiences in the implementation of improved road safety audit and verification systems in Serbia were presented.

Representatives of the Traffic Safety Agency of the Republic of Serbia, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Transport Community, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and representatives of PE "Roads of Serbia" participated in the exchange of experiences and best practices. Sector for Strategy, Design and Development and Sector for Investments, the company "Corridors of Serbia" and the Faculty of Traffic from Belgrade and Novi Sad, along with domestic and foreign experts from seven European countries.

During the two days of work, an overview of all recent changes in UN and EU legal instruments on road infrastructure safety management (RISM) was made, along with an examination of the legislative framework and best national practices of the leading countries, an analysis of the current state of RISM in Serbia was given, as well as recommendations for improving the national road safety system.

Branko Stamatović, acting Director of the Traffic Safety Agency of the Republic of Serbia thanked all the participants, especially the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and PE „Roads of Serbia, stressing that this kind of workshop can contribute a lot in the exchange of experiences.

It is important to note that in the Republic of Serbia until 2024, 123 verifiers and 115 traffic safety auditors were licensed, including colleagues from our company.
