In the Government of the Republic of Serbia, today, December 30, 2025, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević, Acting Director of the Public Enterprise "Roads of Serbia" Zoran Drobnjak and General Director of the company "Centunion" Felipe Canet signed a Commercial Contract for the construction of a bridge with access roads on the Danube River near Bačka Palanka.

The Contract was signed in the presence of the President of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković, a representative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain and a representative of the municipality of Bačka Palanka.
The planned bridge over the Danube near Bačka Palanka is part of the state road I B category No. 19 (M-18), a connection with state road 12 - Neštin - Erdevik - Kuzmin - the State border with Bosnia and Herzegovina (Border crossing Sremska Rača).
The total length of the designed section is 3,352.23 m, of which the bridge length is 1,856.04 m, which will consist of the central part of the bridge over the Danube waterway and the access parts of the bridge from the Bačka and Srem region sides.
The bridge consists of three main parts: the access viaduct from the Bačka Palanka side, the main bridge and the access viaduct from the Neštinje side.
Two traffic lanes and two pedestrian paths are planned, with a total width of 12 m.

The construction of the bridge will create the shortest connection between the villages on the right bank of the Danube and Region of Bačka, connect Bačka Palanka with Neštinje, Erdevik, Kuzmin and the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina (border crossing Sremska Rača), and the problem of residents who are 10 kilometers away and cross 4 border crossings from Bačka Palanka will be solved.
The entire bridge will be located on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
