PE “Roads of Serbia” together with the Agency for Traffic Safety, the initiator of the campaign “Be careful, a train is coming!”, the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Traffic Police Administration, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the Railway Infrastructure of Serbia participates in the implementation of a series of activities aimed at raising awareness of risks at road-railway crossings and improving the knowledge of road users about the safe and proper way to cross the railway.
The largest number of traffic accidents at road-railway crossings occur due to inattention and disregard for traffic signals - from passing between lowered half-bumpers, ignoring traffic lights, to carelessly crossing the track itself. In a significant number of cases, drivers do not reduce speed or stop the vehicle to inspect the track, which leads to situations where the driver's reaction is insufficient to prevent an accident.
One moment of thoughtlessness or carelessness at a road-railway crossing can have tragic consequences.
The common goal is to appeal to road users to always stop their vehicles in front of road-railway crossings, to respect the light and sound signals and to never cross the tracks if a train is in sight or the ramps are lowered.
Observing traffic signals is not a matter of choice, but a matter of responsible and safe behavior in traffic. That's why we remind you:
-Stop, look, listen - only then cross!
- The ramp is not an obstacle - it saves your life!
- The train can't stop quickly - you can!
- Hear the train horn - don't ignore the warning!
- Your safety starts with attention. Be careful - the train is coming!
