Acting Director of the PE“Roads of Serbia“, Zoran Drobnjak, said today for Tanjug that the situation was changing on the hour and that 120 km of roads, where traffic had been closed due to heavy rain, have been remedied by the quick response of road workers.
„Traffic was closed on almost 410 km of roads due to high water levels. West Serbia was the most critical part. A bridge has collapsed in Ljubovija, it was 50 years old, pillars were designed to be placed in the river bed back then and that was the issue. We will construct a deviation and place a pontoon so that, in a day or two, traffic could start functioning again. The situation in Adrani near Kraljevo was also critical, with the water level rising up to the bridge level, as well as in Arilje, Novi Pazar and Raška“, said the Acting Director Zoran Drobnjak.
The supervisors and road workers, with more than 150 machines, are in the field, on call and conducting preventive measures on the damaged sections.
“In order to prevent the rivers from overflowing the roads, crushed stone is poured into the riverbeds if water level is high. We expect the situation to be stabilized and water level to drop in the following days, so that road workers could start with the remedy of the damaged sections right away“, Drobnjak pointed out.
At the moment, traffic is closed on the following roads:
- I B category state road no.21, section Arilje – Ivanjica, at the settlement Divljaka, traffic closure is in effect due to the flooding of the river Moravica, which damaged the carriageway.
- I B category state road no.21, Požega – Arilje – Divljaka, section Požega – Arilje, at the entrance to Arilje, due to natural disasters and water on the carriageway, traffic will be closed until further notice.
- I B category state road no.30, section Ivanjica – Ušće at the settlement Mlance, traffic has been closed due to major rock fall. Cleaning is in progress.
- I B category state road no.21, section Arilje – Ivanjica, at the settlement Klisura, traffic has been closed due to the flooding of the river Moravica. The carriageway has been damaged.
- I B category state road no.28, section Gračanica – Ljubovija, traffic has been closed in the settlement Ljubovija near the motel, due to the collapse of the bridge as a consequence of the river Ljubovađe flooding. The alternative route is through the settlement Ljubovija.
- II A category state road no.137, section Zavlaka – Mojković, traffic has been closed due to the flooding of the river Jadar.
- II A category state road no.150, section Ljig – Belanovica, traffic has been closed in the settlement Poljanice due to the flooding of the river Kačer.
- II A category state road no.257, section Radalj – Mali Zvornik, traffic has been closed in the settlement Donja Borina due to the flooding of the mountain streams.
- II A category state road no.360, section Dići – Bojkovci, traffic has been closed due to the flooding of the river Ljig.
- II B category state road no.361, section Latković – Ljig, traffic has been closed due to the flooding of the river Ljig.
- II B category state road no.330, section Loznica – Zajača, traffic has been closed due to the damage on the bridge Voćnjak.
- II B category state road no.332, section Žeravija – Tršić, traffic has been closed due to high water levels.
- II B category state road no.323, section Nakučani – Matijevac, traffic has been closed in the settlement Matijevac due to the flooding of the river Dobrava.
- II A category state road no.197, section Kaona – Dubac, traffic has been closed due to high water levels.
- II A category state road no.180, section Guča – Vučkovica, traffic has been diverted onto the alternative route through Guča.
- II A category state road no.181, section Kratovska stena – Lučani, traffic has been closed due to the flooding of the river Morava.
- II A category state road no.180, section Lučani – Guča, traffic has been closed on the bridge over the river Dljin.
- II B category state road no.408, section Pakovraće – Markovica, traffic has been closed due to the flooding of the river Belica.
II A category state road no.196, section Arilje – Ljetinje, traffic has been closed over the bridge on the river Moravica.
