Acting Director Zoran Drobnjak is satisfied with the progress of the works on the rehabilitation of the bridge over the Danube River on state road IB category number 14, on the section Smederevo - Kovin.
In addition to the works on the carriageways and pedestrian paths, the rehabilitation includes work inside and on the outside of the Kovin Bridge box girder.
The Kovin bridge is 1.4 km long, of which 1.2 km of a steel structure, while 2 x100 m is made up of an approach concrete structure.
In order to reinforce the steel structure of the bridge, which is the most important part of the work, it is planned to install 500 tons of steel.
Complete anti-corrosion protection of the steel structure of the bridge will also be carried out, which involves removing the existing paint by sandblasting and applying layers of paint in protection systems of C3, C4 and C5.
The entire asphalt layer together with waterproofing will be removed and replaced with a new layer of waterproofing and asphalt in two layers.
A complete replacement of the pedestrian and guardrail is planned, as well as the installation of new lighting.
Although the agreed deadline for completion of the works is March 2027, “Putevi Srbije”, in daily cooperation with the contractor and supervisors, monitoring the dynamics of the works, expects the works to be finished before the start of the winter season.
