Construction of the Svilajnec bypass, including a new bridge, is underway.
Currently, work is being carried out on the bridge over the Velika Morava River near Svilajnec, located one kilometer downstream from the old road-railway bridge.
"Work is underway on the piles and main beams on the left bank of the Velika Morava. The bridge will be 300 meters long, 12.7 meters wide, and will consist of three parts," said Mladen Mladovan, the Head Contractor for the Svilajnec Bypass.
According to him, the structure is of great importance for this part of Pomoravlje region, as well as for the residents of Svilajnac, who will be able to reach the city faster via the bypass from the highway exit.
The Svilajnac bypass will be 10.8 km long. The first phase will cover 3.1 km, consisting of 750 m from the Markovac side and 2.2 km from the Svilajnac side.
The Government of Serbia has recognized the Svilajnac bypass as a public linear transport infrastructure project of particular importance to the Republic of Serbia.
