PRESIDENT OF SERBIA ALEXANDAR VUČIĆ VISITED WORKS ON THE KUZMIN – SREMSKA RAČA SECTION ON AUGUST 21, 2026

On August 21, 2026, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić visited the works on the Kuzmin – Sremska Rača highway, in the presence of the Turkish Ambassador to Serbia Ilhan Saygili, Assistant Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Miroslav Alempić, Acting Director of “Putevi Srbije” Zoran Drobnjak, Mayor of Sremska Mitrovica Branislav Nedimović and representatives of the contractors.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated during a tour of the Kuzmin – Sremska Rača section that this is an important road, connecting Belgrade and Sarajevo, but also that it is a road connecting Belgrade with Bijeljina. He pointed out that the Republic of Serbia is also largely financing the works on the territory of Republika Srpska, from the border across Dvorovo to Bijeljina.

The construction of the Sremska Rača – Kuzmin highway section, with a new 1,320 m long bridge over the Sava River, is in its final phase. The section is approximately 18 km long and is part of the project to build the E-761 Belgrade – Sarajevo highway, which will further improve the transport connectivity between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The start of the highest-ranking road is planned near the existing grade-separated Kuzmin intersection, where it connects to the existing E-70 highway.

This section is connected to the Rača – Bijeljina motorway section in Republika Srpska, approximately 20 km long, under construction.

On the part of the route between the Bosut River and the Sava River, the construction of the integrated border crossing Sremska Rača is underway.

The route is designed as a classic motorway profile with two driving lanes and one stop lane (for each direction of travel) and a median strip, for a speed of 130 km/h.

Two grade-separated intersections are planned: Kuzmin 1, as a connection between the two motorways Belgrade – Zagreb and Kuzmin – Sremska Rača, and the Bosut loop.

Along the route, 24 structures (bridges, overpasses and culverts) with a total length of approximately 1,543 m have been designed, as well as the Kuzmin parking lot and two toll gates – a “side” one within the Bosut loop and a “front” toll gate on the highway route, before the future border crossing.

Works on the construction of the bridge over the Sava River have been completed, two separate bridge structures consisting of concrete access structures on the left and right banks of the Sava, 530 m and 450 m long, and a steel structure over the river 330 m long. The total length of the bridge is 1,310 m.

The main steel bridge structure is made of 5,750 tons of steel, a box girder on three spans with a length of 90.0 + 150.0 + 90.0 = 330.0 m.
