The first meeting of the scientific association "Center for Traffic Planning" (CEPLAS) was held on March 27th 2026 at the Faculty of Traffic, University of Belgrade.
The gathering was attended by representatives of "Roads of Serbia", Zoran Pešović, director of the Sector for Traffic Control Information Systems and Ivan Terzić, assistant director from the same Sector and Ivana Subotić from the Sector for Strategy, Designing and Development.
The goal of the meeting was to establish a platform for an open and constructive professional dialogue on key issues important for the development of traffic engineering, as well as to improve the position and role of the professional community, thus taking an important step towards strengthening and affirming the traffic profession.

Through an active discussion, priority topics were singled out that will represent the backbone of the future activities of the Association in the following period:
- improving the position of traffic engineers and strengthening the traffic profession
- examination of the possibilities and adequate places in the existing legislation for a clearer definition of the need for traffic analyzes and studies modeled on European and world practice
- determining the level of detail of traffic analyzes in relation to the types and hierarchy of planning and urban planning documents.
The need for continuous exchange of knowledge, experiences and open dialogues, as well as for systematic action aimed at improving the profession, was recognized.
The held meeting represents the first, but significant step in the process that requires long-term commitment, joint work and clearly directed activities towards the improvement of the traffic system and professional practice.
Members of the Association - experts in the field of traffic, through seminars and workshops, will contribute to the application of modern practices in the planning and development of traffic systems.
Traffic is not only a matter of infrastructure, traffic directly affects the quality of life, economy, safety, health and environment, so it is important to hear and respect the opinion of the profession when making decisions.
The goal of the association is, first of all, the promotion of the importance of traffic planning as a multidisciplinary and strategically oriented discipline, which requires a careful approach at the local, regional and national level.
