Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić in the presence of the Secretary in that Ministry Mihailo Mišić, Assistant Minister Miroslav Alempić, Acting Director of PE “Roads of Serbia” Zoran Drobnjak with associates Ivan Tejić and Zoran Pešović, as well as President of the Independent Roads Union of Serbia Duško Bošković, on June 27, 2024, opened a workers' sports games – “Putarijada 2024” on Kopaonik.
Minister Vesić emphasized that during the previous year, in 2023, very good results were achieved in the road industry and that they will try to find stable sources of financing income for road workers, which, as he said, will be ensured mainly through the collection of tolls not only on highways, but also on expressways and for trucks on roads of first category in the Republic of Serbia. He pointed out that stable sources of income for the road industry are important in order to maintain roads, not just build them, and added that, according to estimates, about 6,000 kilometers of roads need to be renovated and reconstructed.
The minister thanked the road workers who, as he said, with their hard work help build road infrastructure faster in Serbia.
On June 28th, 2024 on Kopaonik, road companies also mark the Patron’s Day of road workers - Saint Vitus Day by cutting a celebratory cake in the presence of a priest of the Raška-Prizren diocese.
