Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Project Hungary - Serbia (HUSRB - 1903/21/0092) "Development of Santovo – Backi Breg cross border crossing with the necessary duties for freight transport facilities", Opening conference

The opening conference of the project "Development of Santovo – Backi Breg cross border crossing with the necessary duties for freight transport facilities", within the IPA cross-border cooperation program between Hungary and Serbia, was held on December 17, 2021 in the premises of the PE "Institute for Urbanism" of Vojvodina in Novi Sad.

The leading beneficiary of the Project is the National Agency for Infrastructure of the Republic of Hungary and partners - PE "Roads of Serbia" and PE "Institute for Urbanism of Vojvodina".

The goal of this IPA Project HUSRB - 1903/21/0092 is the development and equipping of the border crossing Santovo - Bački Breg for all types of freight transport with facilities in order to ensure better flow of freight transport without restrictions, since this border crossing can now be used only by passenger vehicles and trucks under 3.5 tons.

The total budget of the project is 469,925 euros of which PE "Roads of Serbia", as a partner, has 121,647.00 euros at its disposal.

It is planned that the project will be realized from February 1st, 2021 to 31st July 2022.

Istvan Pastor, President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, Biljana Vuksanović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure spoke on behalf of the project leaders -  István Nagyhegyesi, from the National Infrastructure Agency of Hungary, who spoke about the importance of the project, who joined the conference via video link. Jovana Đurović, Head of the Strategic Planning Department in the Sector for Strategy, Design and Development of the Public Company "Roads of Serbia" and Predrag Knezević, Director of the Public Enterprise "Institute for Urbanism of Vojvodina" spoke on behalf of the project partners.

Svetlana Kilibarda, Assistant Provincial Secretary for Urbanism and Environmental Protection, Vidosava Enderić, Assistant Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, International Cooperation and Local Self-Government, and Antonio Ratković, Mayor of the City of Sombor, also addressed the audience.

PE "Roads of Serbia" within this project has the obligation to prepare the necessary planning documentation, conceptual design and preliminary design, as well as the project for a building permit for the development of the border crossing for freight traffic. At the conducted tender, our company, using the PRAG procedure, selected the designer - the company "Sidprojekt" d.o.o., and the project-technical documentation is being prepared.
