Construction of Fast Road Novi Beograd- Surčin Has Commenced

Works on construction of the fast road Novi Beograd – Surčin, which will connect the City of Belgrade to the motorway “Miloš Veliki”, have commenced today in the presence of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, and the Prime Minister, Ms. Ana Brnabić. When visiting the site, the President Vučić said that the construction of this road route implies shortening of access road to the motorway „Miloš Veliki” for about 10 kilometers, and that the deadline for completion of works is 18 months, and asked the representative of the Chinese contractor, company “CCCC”, to accelerate realization of the Project, if feasible, taking into account the importance of this road.

The commencement of works was also attended by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Tomislav Momirović, Ambassador of China to Serbia, Ms. Chen Bo, Acting Director of the PE „Roads of Serbia“, Mr. Zoran Drobnjak, Director of „Corridors of Serbia”, Mr. Aleksandar Antić, Mayor of the City of Belgrade, Mr. Zoran Radojičić, and Deputy Major, Mr. Goran Vesić.

The commercial agreement for the section Novi Beograd – Surčin, 7.9 km long, is signed with „China Communications Construction Company“ - „CCCC“, and its value is EUR 70.5 million.

This section which virtually constitutes a part of the motorway „Miloš Veliki”, is very demanding in construction terms since it passes through urban area of the City of Belgrade, but it will provide for drivers from Vojvođanska and Jurija Gagarina Streets in Novi Beograd direct access to the motorway „Miloš Veliki“ instead of previous access via the segment of Belgrade – Zagreb motorway.

The city highway Novi Beograd – Surčin is designed for speed of 80 kilometers per hour, it will consist of three lanes for each direction, median strip five meters wide, pedestrian lanes of two meters each and cycling lanes. This road route will also feature three bridges, one bridge-canal and one overpass. Designed has been prepared by the Institute of Transportation „CIP“.
