Minister Momirović visit Section New Belgrade-Surčin and Toll Station Obrenovac

On 10 July, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirović, together with the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, the representatives of the Contractor and the PE "Roads of Serbia," the executive director of the Sector for Strategy, Designing and Development, Miodrag Poledica, and the director of the enterprise "Corridors of Serbia," Aleksandar Antić, visited the construction works on the section New Belgrade-Surčin, which represents the link of Belgrade and the motorway "Miloš Veliki."

Momirović has expressed satisfaction because the City of Belgrade, with the new mayor, has shown readiness to solve problems so that the works can be completed within the shortest deadline possible, with urgent but careful solving of the issues of expropriation and unplanned settlements, first of all. Momirović added that this road is essential, not just for New Belgrade and Surčin, but for all citizens travelling to West Serbia and Montenegro. The Minister has thanked the Contractor, the Chinese company "CCCC", for their dedicated work and expressed his expectations that the motorway section New Belgrade-Surčin, with efficient cooperation with the City Administration, could be completed by March of next year.

Mayor Aleksandar Šapić has expressed satisfaction with the progress of construction works on the section and pointed out that he is introduced for the first time to the real problems that exist but can be influenced by the City since it is practically a city road. The Mayor has pointed out that he will do everything within his power and jurisdiction to complete the project as soon as possible.

After visiting the works on the mentioned section, Minister Momirović also visited the toll station Obrenovac and, on that occasion, appealed to all traffic participants to behave responsibly in traffic and drive safely.

On this occasion, the Head of the Department for Tolling Supervision at the PE "Roads of Serbia“ Marijana Bosić, presented the work and results of the Sector for Toll Collection, with a reminder that the project of widening 26 toll stations in Serbia is in progress, to increase the capacity and uninterrupted passage of vehicles through toll stations. The priority widening is carried out on the toll stations Stara Pazova, Obrenovac, Požarevac, and Smederevo.
By widening the toll station Stara Pazova, the number of toll lanes is increased from 9 to 17, i.e., the toll station capacity will be greater by almost 90% compared to the existing one.

Toll collection in Serbia is performed at 66 toll stations, in a length of 830 kilometers of motorways, and an increasing number of cars travelling on Serbian motorways is recorded annually.
