Marking of Commencement of Works on Construction of Motorway Е-763 “Miloš Veliki“, Section Požega-Duga Poljana

On 20 March, 2022, commencement of works on the section of the motorway Е-763 “Miloš Veliki”, from Požega to Duga Poljana, was marked in the presence of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirović, the Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of the PR China, Tian Yishu, the heads of municipalities Požega, Arilje, Ivanjica, Duga Poljana and Sjenica, as well the Acting Director of the PE “Roads of Serbia“, Zoran Drobnjak, and the representatives of the contractors.

President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said that the motorway would be of great importance for the development of that part of Serbia and would also give incentive to development of tourism. “That will mean a lot for the entire Pešter plateau, bringing investors and for development of the entire western and southwestern Serbia“, the President said and added that the road from Novi Pazar to Sjenica is also being constructed, as well as another 22 km of the road Novi Pazar – Tutin, the bypass around Ribarići and other roadways. “There haven’t been investments like these since 1945”, President Vučić said, stressing how important it is that people stay and live in that part of Serbia.

The section Požega – Duga Poljana is a continuation of the section Preljina – Požega in the north and ends with the interchange Duga Poljana in the south. The section, 74.73 km long, will be positioned along the municipalities Požega, Arilje, Ivanjica, Duga Poljana and Sjenica. 71 bridges, in the total length of 34.4 km, 10 tunnels and three interchanges – Arilje, Ivanjica and Duga Poljana, will be constructed on the roadway, a very demanding one in geological terms.

The works are executed by the company “China Road and Bridge Corporation Ltd".
