PE “Roads of Serbia” on Transportation Fair “Traffic solution expo“ in Novi Sad

International transportation fair “Traffic solution expo 2022“ was officially opened on 17 March, 2022, in Novi Sad, at the Congress Centre of the Novi Sad Fair.

The opening was attended by the Serbian Minister of Transport, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirović, Provincial Secretary for Construction, Energy and Transport, Ognjen Bjelić, and the Assistant Mayor of Novi Sad, Vladimir Stojković.  

Minister Tomislav Momirović has stressed that more than 1,200 km of motorways and expressways are being designed and constructed. “High-speed rail connecting two largest cities in Serbia, with the ride lasting only thirty minutes, is about to be completed. Also, connecting cities in Vojvodina via roads from Sombor to Kikinda and Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad is also of extreme importance”, Minister Momirović said.

Stojković has pointed out the importance of the Fruška Gora Corridor, which represents a project of national and regional importance and added that the City of Novi Sad is aware of the importance of transport infrastructure for economic progress and how important it is to maintain systematic traffic management. 

The conferential part of the fair took place in the form of panel discussions on multiple topics, from the transport infrastructure in cities, TEN-T railway network standards, road safety, to the analysis of the directions of transport development in Serbia.

Miodrag Poledica, Executive Director of the Sector for Strategy, Design and Development in the PE “Roads of Serbia”, took part in the discussion and talked about the importance of implementation of a large number of infrastructure projects, motorways and expressways, currently being constructed in the length of 447.7 km. Poledica noted that 1,190 km of roads are currently being designed .  

Since installation of electric chargers is a contribution to sustainable development, the PE “Roads of Serbia” has recognized the necessity of introducing electric vehicles in the Serbian transport system and a systematic approach as well, using a strategic and legal framework for this area, and also by developing infrastructure for electric vehicle charging. Miodrag Poledica has stressed that the PE “Roads of Serbia” has installed eight chargers for electric vehicles on the key routes on the Republic of Serbia motorways. “The service of charging electric cars is free for now, however, legislation concerning introduction of payment for all users is being prepared”, Poledica said and announced installation of 10 new chargers for electric vehicles in the upcoming period.
